Catch the St. Anne’s
Spirit with ...
Father Mike Burns
Father
Mike Burns, SDS, has a very visible presence at St. Anne’s.
He is the Pastoral Care Director of St. Anne’s Salvatorian
Campus. It is unusual for a nursing home to have a full time
priest chaplain and he and the residents are grateful that
this ministry is a priority for St. Anne’s. There is
Mass in the Chapel five times a week. But every day residents
will come to pray and reflect in the chapel.
Father Mike is there for the residents and their families
in times of celebration and times of loss. He is available
to families in person and by telephone. He visits with residents
in his office and throughout the campus. He enjoys meeting
residents and staff and attends activities regularly so the
connections take place. Last fall, he anointed residents on
each floor of the home and plans to do it again this spring.
He is also there to help plan funerals and comfort family
members.
Fr.
Mike has a Master’s in Art and Religion and a Master’s
of Divinity and served as a hospital chaplain and a parish
priest before joining St. Anne’s. He lives in community
with several Salvatorian priests. He enjoys dinner with friends,
swimming reading and cooking.
Father Mike also said that he is grateful to the staff and
volunteers who have assisted his transition. “St. Anne’s
is a family,” he said.
