Laundry Department Staff and Volunteers
Go the Extra Mile—with a Smile
The
St. Anne’s Laundry Department is a smooth running machine.
It works because of dedicated employees and volunteers. They
care about the residents and want them to feel clean, neat
and cared for. To accomplish this, they wash and fold, on
average, about thirty-two loads of laundry a day. That’s
a lot of socks to match as they meet the needs of assisted
living and skilled care residents.
“Many of the residents will stop us in the halls and
thank us and give us a big hug,” said one seven-year
staff person. “They will tell us we did a great job
on a shirt or blouse. I am proud of how our residents look
and how I helped make that happen,” she explained.
Clarence Williams, another member of the team, noted that
family members appreciate the laundry department’s efforts
too. “It is very rewarding to help others and to know
that they appreciate our work. Family members also comment
about what a great job we do.”
Bea Wilber is the assistant laundry supervisor and has worked
at St. Anne’s for twenty-one years. She said there are
eight full-time employees and ten volunteers in the department
that functions every day of the week.
“Our goal is, ‘We go the extra mile with a smile’
and we mean it. We also appreciate our terrific volunteers.
They energize us with their smiles and energy. They make our
day,” Bea pointed out.
One volunteer, Sister Mildred Lotzer, SDS, lives in the adjacent
Salvatorian Sisters Residence. She stops daily to pick up
items that need mending and returns them the next day. She
loves helping in this way and being with the fun-loving and
hard-working laundry crew.
The employees and volunteers are proud of their work. We
salute them for a job well done on tasks that are never ever
done.
