Volunteer Celebrates 102nd Birthday on Valentine’s Day
Ronald Schwartz, long-time resident of Milwaukee and volunteer at St. Anne’s Salvatorian Campus, celebrated his 102nd birthday this Valentine’s Day. St. Anne’s residents and staff gathered on Valentine’s Day to celebrate Schwartz’s 102nd birthday with a Valentine’s social including entertainment, birthday cake and fellowship. Check out the Fox 6 News coverage of the festivities.
Schwartz became a welcome fixture at St. Anne’s when his wife Mary was a resident there. With the support of St. Anne’s professional staff, Schwartz tended to Mary’s needs during his daily visits.
When she passed away in 2002, Schwartz decided to volunteer his services so he wouldn’t lose touch with his St. Anne’s “family.”
Now, at the age of 102, he drives twice a week to St. Anne’s from his nearby home to offer a gentle hand and smiling face as he assists residents to and from the dining room for lunch.
Ron’s contribution to St. Anne’s is not measured by the number of years or number of hours spent volunteering, but rather by the impact he has on the quality of life for residents. He lives out St. Anne’s mission to provide compassionate care and serves as a role model for living life to the fullest in a most humble fashion.
